Moles don't like goats?
Try telling that to someone with mole hills in their goat's field! This is probably an urban myth stemming from the vibration rubbish I talked about in the windmills post. All complete nonsense.
However, moles certainly do not like cats or dogs that ferret them out and leave them asa present on your doorstep! Why not get yourself a mouser, or should that be moler!?

Mothballs get rid of moles
Rubbish - absolute tosh. Mothballs do NOT work. Don't waste your time. Tried and tested and ignored by moles. Another old wives tale.
Mothballs down a mole hill,
Get rid of moles they will!
Lies, lies and lies,
As useful as flies!

To get rid of moles get rid of their food
Japanese beetle larvae - they taste as good as peanut butter to a mole!
It seems simple really. How to get rid of moles: you need to get rid of their food then they will go somewhere else to forage:-
"Use a product such as Diazinon or something similarto kill grubs. Moles eat grubs.
No grubs = No moles
However,
Japanese beetles are also quite compatible with the mole’s palette. Moles
love Japanese beetle larvae, or grubs as we call them, more than anything else.
If you want to learn how to get rid of moles, you need to get rid of the
Japanese beetles on your property too. "
This is all easier said than done. Diazinon is not legally sold any more, and who wants to put their pets and children at risk with poison all round the place? If you don't have kids or pets and aren't too bothered about all the rest of the wildlife and you have some old grub killer lying about you might want to try to get rid of moles but I am sure there must be some better methods?
Reasons not to use Diazinon:-
"1. What is dangerous about the pesticide diazinon (Ortho or Spectracide) and its
chemical cousin dursban (Lorsban or chlorpyrifos)?
They are both in the chemical category called organophosphates.
They both damage the nervous system so the nerve impulses cannot travel along
the nerve pathways of insects - but humans, fish, bees and birds are similarly
affected. They both are more dangerous for children than adults. There are also
acute and reproductive risks for non-target aquatic and terrestrial animals. "To read more visit this website
Might be worth excavating some active tunnels and putting some peanut butter in mousetraps. Apparently that works a treat. Moles love peanut butter and are sort of mouse sized. You need to cover up the tunnel with a bucket or log or piece of stone, etc so no light gets in the tunnel or Mister Mole will not be back... that's another solution by the way. Find the active tunnels and expose them to sunlight. Might annoy the moles enough to get rid of them. Let me know!

How to get rid of moles with plants!
This is another post on how to get rid of moles!
Many people say planting certain species of plant will get rid of your moles. Sometimes they say that the mole doesn't like the smell of the plant or the taste of the bulbs. But you should know by now that if your bulbs are being eaten it is more likely that you have voles in your garden, as moles eat worms and beetles not vegetation. Voles someimtes use empty tunnel networks of long departed moles.

This plant, Fritillaria meleagris, is commonly sold as a mole deterrent. Very pretty and supposedly the moles do not like the smell! I think this is nother myth. IF it worked for you please let me know.
http://www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=11067
This plant, Incarvillea delavayi, is also sometimes sold as a mole repellent. It doesn't work as far as people planting it, with moles still in their garden, say!

How to get rid of moles with a bomb
The moleblaster bomb is good if you want to know how to get rid of moles. Out of 40000 customers they claim less than 40 have been refunded, check it out here...
www.moleblaster.com
This product was invented in France and I found a hilarious French video on how to use it on the internet at
www.detauper.com
This device works by pressure of mud, when the moles is fixes the tunnel, setting off the detonator, causing a small explosion, instantly killing Mr Mole. I suppose it is more humane than a lot of traps you can get or than poisoning. Definite cons I can think of are the worry that small children or pets could get injured. On one forum I investigated someone said they had had great success with these devices and that they place a large tyre around it to keep any inquisitive people away - that sounded like a fab idea.
Alternative methods of how to get rid of moles are in this Guide, which a friend of mine recommended to me after eradicating all the moles in his field. Some more great tips there which are 100% successful.
